The CBA Competition Law Section's Economics and Law Committee present:

Antitrust in the Labour Market

December 5, 2018 | 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern
Teleconference

A growing body of research has shown that labour markets are not as competitive as are previously thought. Some have suggested that concentration in labour markets is a contributing cause of the macroeconomic phenomenon of declining labour share of income and slow wage growth since the 1980s. What is the evidence of antitrust concerns in the labour market? Is labour market competition something antitrust authorities should look at? Is the Canadian Competition Act equipped to examine antitrust issues in the labour market, in particular wage-fixing and anti-poaching agreements and mergers that may be anticompetitive in the labour market?

Speakers
Guy Ben-Ishai, The Brattle Group
Ioana Marinescu, University of Pennsylvania
Suresh Naidu, Columbia University
