TOPIC: Case law update: Decisions from the Federal Court 2022- 2023

Join us for an overview of some notable and interesting immigration law jurisprudence from the Federal Court from the last couple of years. Our speakers will review key cases on a variety of immigration topics and common issues that might interest you!

Speakers: 
•    Brendan Friesen, Counsel at Department of Justice, Prairie Region Canada
Brendan has practiced immigration law with the Department of Justice since 2009. A graduate of Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba, he has appeared before the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, a variety of provincial superior courts and courts of appeal, and all divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board. Brendan’s practice encompasses all areas of immigration law, with a particular focus on security-related inadmissibilities. Brendan is currently the Team Leader for the DOJ’s immigration group in Winnipeg, and chair of the Prairie Regional Office’s immigration working group.

•    Jacqueline Bonisteel, Partner at Corporate Immigration Law Firm, Ottawa
Jackie is a partner at Corporate Immigration Law Firm (CILF) and leads the firm’s Ottawa office.
