NOTICE OF ZOOM MEETING

TIME: 12:00 Noon - 1:30pm

TOPIC:  Finding & Using Archives in Manitoba
SPEAKER:  Lisa Friesen, Archives of Manitoba

This session will get participants to “think outside the box” to go beyond the traditional legal information tools and resources (CanLII, Quicklaw, Westlaw, etc.) and will cover the following topics:
Understanding the basic concepts of “archives” and “records”;
Identifying various kinds of archival materials or resources that may be useful in legal research; 
Locating reliable and trustworthy sources;
Benefits of using archives and non-traditional resources.

Please RSVP (PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED) to the Manitoba Bar Association online (link above). 

You will need a computer or laptop (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet with a microphone and webcam (built-in or external) and an internet connection.  

If you will be participating from a laptop, you would also need to install a Zoom Client for Meetings from this site: https://zoom.us/download. If you are unsure whether you have the latest version of Zoom, please follow the instructions HERE

At approximately 9:30am on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 an email will be sent from the MBA advising you of the link that you will click on to join the Zoom video conference meeting.  So it will be important to register before 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.  

Attendance at this MBA Section meeting can be applied towards your Law Society of Manitoba’s Continuing Professional Development requirement for a maximum of 1.5 hours.
