TOPIC:  MBA Family Law Section Town Halls

The Family Bar has been asked to provide feedback, comments and concerns regarding the Case Flow Model (i.e. “The New System”). The purpose of this is to facilitate communication between the Bar and the Bench about practical and procedural issues arising from the structure of the current Case Flow Model. The Family Law Section will be holding four town hall style sessions via Zoom December 6, 8 and 10 where lawyers can engage on this issue. Three sessions will be earmarked for Winnipeg-based practitioners and the Noon, December 8, 2021 session will be for rural practitioners. For those unable to attend a session, you are invited to present your comments in written form via email to Reannah Hocken at rhocken@dfslaw.ca. Please clarify in your email if you would prefer your feedback to remain anonymous. The Family Law Section does ask that Members of the Bar provide concrete examples from practice as opposed to more generalized commentary so that when the Executive presents the information to the Bench, we can reference narrow and specific issues.

Please RSVP (PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED) to the Manitoba Bar Association online (link above).

If you are having troubles, please email sections@cba-mb.ca.

The link to join the meeting will be sent the morning of the meeting date you have selected.

Attendance at this MBA Section meeting can be applied towards your Law Society of Manitoba’s Continuing Professional Development requirement for a maximum of one hour.
