Synopsis
Join the Health Law and Class Action Sections for this discussion on recent developments in health care class actions. Health Law Section Execs Deanna Fedio and Julia Lauwers moderate a discussion with Jordan Bank and Chelsea Hermanson covering recent cases of interest, including the Supreme Court of Canada's recent decision in Sanis Health Inc. v. British Columbia. Other topics covered include identification of potential class members, evidentiary standards for certification, navigating public nuisance and privacy related claims, and opioid-related health care cost recovery.
Speaker Bios
Jordan Bank is a partner at Guild Yule LLP with a practice focusing on civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance defence, where he regularly represents and defends Health Authorities. He is co-instructor of the Insurance Law course at UBC Allard Hall.
Chelsea Hermanson is a lawyer at CFM Lawyers LLP with a practice focusing on class actions, including health care cost recovery litigation. She is co-instructor of the Mass Torts and Class Action course at UBC Allard Hall.
