Synopsis
Defensive patent licensing platforms offer strategic solutions to safeguard businesses from patent litigation risk while fostering collaboration and monetization.  Sam Wiley, LOT Network, and Scott Foster, Seastone IP, discuss patent litigation in general and provide an overview of three key defensive patent licensing platforms: RPX, LOT Network, and Open Innovation Network. Key topics include: (i) the rationale behind defensive patent licensing; (ii) the mechanisms and benefits of RPX, LOT Network, and Open Innovation Network; (iii) case studies and data demonstrating their effectiveness; and (iv) legal and strategic considerations for participation. Gain insights on how to advise clients looking to leverage these platforms to enhance IP strategy, reduce risks, and promote collaborative innovation.
