Synopsis
The British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI) has invited CBABC’s input on its Renovate the Public Hearing Consultation Paper.
Bruce Woolley, KC, Edward Wilson, Kevin Zakreski, and Megan Vis-Dunbar, discuss key issues within this law reform project, including possible reforms to provincial legislation governing public engagement when a local government enacts land-use bylaws. It looks at ways in which legislation can support community engagement by local government from a first principles perspective and how the BC Local Government Act could move towards alignment with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This information session will shed light on the process leading up to the consultation paper and outline the issues at a high level.
Members interested in responding to the consultation are encouraged to attend this session.
