About Elizabeth Kollias
Elizabeth Kollias is a senior paralegal with the Litigation Group at Cassels, having joined the firm in 2022. With more than 20 years of experience in many areas of civil litigation, at all levels of court, Elizabeth provides paralegal support to partners and associates on matters ranging from initial phase to final conclusion. Elizabeth’s responsibilities include: file management; preparing all court documents including applications, affidavits, and orders; preparation for hearing and trials; gathering and analyzing documents and evidence; document production and reporting; as well as client and related party communication.
Prior to joining Cassels, Elizabeth worked as a paralegal at the Vancouver office of an international firm, and the Vancouver offices of large regional firms, as well as a boutique litigation firm focusing on commercial litigation, construction, bankruptcy and insolvency, real property, and debtor-creditor litigation. She has also worked as a paralegal in the public sector and specifically for the civil litigation group of the Provincial Crown (Ministry of Attorney General).
Since 2012, Elizabeth has been a part-time instructor at Vancouver Community College in both the Paralegal and Legal Administrative Assistant programs. Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia followed by a Paralegal Diploma from Capilano University. She is the President of the BC Paralegal Association as well as its Education Chair. Elizabeth also volunteers her time as part of the Leadership Group of Access to Justice BC (A2JBC) – a collaboration of individuals and organizations chaired by the Chief Justice of BC and committed to improving access to justice in BC.
About Adnan Habib
Adnan Habib is an experienced litigation lawyer and mediator dedicated to resolving construction and complex commercial disputes. These include construction law cases related to bonds, contaminated sites, delay claims, deficiency claims, insurance coverage, liens, leaky buildings and priority disputes. A significant component of Adnan’s practice involves insolvency matters including secured and unsecured realizations, receiverships, foreclosures, CCAA matters, lease defaults, bankruptcy, breach of trust and fraud.
Adnan takes a pragmatic approach to the resolution of disputes. He has helped private and public owners, first nations, developers, general contractors, consultants, insurers, financial institutions, private lenders, receivers, strata corporations, subcontractors and suppliers in a wide variety of matters.
Adnan has appeared before all levels of Court in British Columbia. He is committed to the use of alternate dispute resolution.
Adnan graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1989 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1992. He received intensive mediation training from the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law. He was called to the Bar in 1993 and has been a partner since January 2000.
He served as a managing partner from January 2005 to June 2018. During this time, he dealt with the day to day issues involved in running a business, worked collaboratively with others in making difficult decisions and provided leadership to the firm.
