About Jaimie Kidston
Jaimie Kidston started her career in the Cariboo and moved to beautiful Penticton in 2013. Jaimie helps her clients resolve disputes in estates, construction, corporate and real estate transactions. She assists clients who’ve suffered personal injuries including those dealing with ICBC. She will guide you through getting a will or power of attorney made, and she enjoys helping in any aspect of equine law.
Jaimie has represented clients in BC Supreme Court, BC Small Claims Court, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the Employment Standards Tribunal, and in mediation. Jaimie is a governor of the Trial Lawyers Association of B.C., past Chair of the Okanagan Civil Litigation section of the Canadian Bar Association, and has given lectures on estate law at Okanagan College.
About Louisa Winn, Q.C.
Louisa Winn, Q.C. is a Crown prosecutor with the BC Prosecution Service (“BCPS”) regional office, Criminal Appeals and Special Prosecutions (“CASP”) office, in Vancouver. For several years, she has been an Articling Principal, supervising law graduates each year as they learn to become junior prosecutors. Louisa has been a CBABC member since 1995 shortly after her call to the BC bar. After graduating from an eastern Canadian law school in 1993, she articled on the east coast with a large firm before moving to BC.
She began her BC legal career practising with an established mid size Fraser Valley law firm, practising civil and criminal litigation, small claims, Family law. In 1997, Louisa joined the British Columbia Prosecution Service in Abbotsford. And then in 2002, she joined CASP where she has specialized in prosecuting a wide range of “white collar” offences since that time. She is a frequent presenter and instructor on a range of prosecution topics for audiences of Crown, police, and forensic investigators.
Amongst a long list of her active volunteer roles, Louisa was previously on Provincial Council, and remains an active CBABC committee member. She is also active with the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law (“ISRCL”), the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (“FACLBC”),and the Lawyers Equity and Diversity Roundtable. (“LEADR”).
About Lou Poskitt
Lou Poskitt is a labour and employment lawyer with over twelve of experience practicing. Lou is passionate about workplace issues and cares deeply about her clients. She works collaboratively with her clients to provide preventative training, implement policy initiatives and develop strategic advice relating to all manner of workplace issues. In addition, Lou doubles as our Director of Operations and Legal Talent at Miller Titerle. In her non-legal role, she is responsible for recruiting and supporting MT’s legal talent.
About Kerry Simmons, Q.C.
Kerry Simmons, Q.C. is CBABC’s Executive Director. As a lawyer in private practice until 2018, Kerry assisted clients with family and civil litigation, witnessing their experiences and those of lawyers in private practice. A keen volunteer in CBABC from 2000-2018, Kerry contributed to CBA’s advocacy and member services, and served as Branch President in 2012-13, and National President in 2017-18. Her additional areas of interest include public education, reconciliation with indigenous peoples, inclusion and diversity, and the protection and promotion of children in healthy, positive environments.
