Best Practices in a Mediation

Presented by the CBA Alberta Civil Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution North Section

On Demand. Originally presented on January 14, 2025.

Please join us in welcoming Ivan Derer, K.C. to guide this important discussion.  Drawing on his extensive experience in serving as mediator for over 25 years, Ivan will speak to the importance of advocacy in the mediation process and candidly identify evolving problematic patterns of practice both amongst counsel and mediators.  Some context will also be discussed in how effective advocacy fits into better practices in other aspects to a successful mediation process. The discussion will speak to experiences drawn from a multitude of dispute types – commercial, personal injury, insurance, professional negligence, wills and estates, amongst others.  We look forward to seeing you there!

SPEAKER

Ivan Derer, KC (Partner, Derer Law)
