Commercial General Liability Policies and the ‘Your Work’ Exclusion: Coverage Considerations
Presented by the CBA Alberta Insurance Law South Section
On Demand. Originally presented on February 22, 2024
Commercial General Liability policies are often considered in the scope of insurance and construction litigation. In the context of coverage, often a dispute can arise with respect to which items are covered, and which are excluded. As such, having a solid understanding of the common exclusions, including the "your work" exclusion, common exceptions such as the subcontractor exception, and coverages such as the "productions completed operations hazard" is key in evaluating a claim for coverage both as counsel for an insurer defending a claim, and counsel for a plaintiff seeking coverage or indemnity.
