Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Immigration Appeal Division – Introduction & Best Practices from Two Viewpoints

Presented by the CBA Alberta Immigration Law North Section

On Demand. Originally presented on February 21, 2024.

Join us as we hear from an Early Resolution Officer from the Immigration Appeal Division – western region, and two Hearings Officers from Canada Border Services Agency on the process of Alternative Dispute Resolution at the IAD. What is it? ADR versus Expanded ADR? Who can access it? How can we best serve our clients and help the process be successful? This process has been successful in resolving many appeals over the past several years, helping to reduce appeal backlogs and wait times, and can benefit our clients greatly without having to proceed to a full hearing. Whether you’re new to this process or an experienced advocate, this presentation will help us all to utilize this process to its fullest potential.

SPEAKERS

Mandeep Randhawa (Hearings Officer, Canada Border Services Agency - Edmonton)
Neha Channan (Hearings Manager, Canada Border Services Agency - Edmonton)
Josée Heaps (Early Resolution Officer, Immigration Appeal Division – Western Region)
