Alberta now has precedent confirming that corporate separateness and the “corporate veil” will not always act as a protection against personal liability or property division, particularly in matrimonial or family property files, depending on the facts of the business and the dispute. Megan Dawson, partner with McCuaig Desrochers LLP will review some recent case law and the state of affairs with this kind of property in Alberta.
