A Brief History of Expropriation Law in Alberta
Presented by the CBA Alberta Municipal Law North Section
On Demand. Originally presented on November 16, 2023.
The presenters examine how a southern Alberta rancher influenced most of the country to modernize expropriation legislation and the evolution of the case law since the enactment of the Expropriation Act in 1974. A comparison is drawn between the treatment of that rancher in the 1950s and his descendants in the 2000s.
