Presented by the CBA Alberta Elder Law South Section
On Demand. Originally presented on December 14, 2023
Join us for an eye-opening webinar entitled "Protecting Our Seniors: Unveiling Internet Scams and Fraudulent Strategies Targeting Older Adults." In collaboration with the renowned Better Business Bureau and Tony Pitelli from the Seniors Resource Council of Alberta SRCA, this presentation aims to shed light on the alarming rise of scams that people are falling victim to on the internet, as well as other deceptive strategies employed to fraudulently extract money from seniors. We will delve into scams affecting individuals from all walks of life, with a particular emphasis on the vulnerable senior population. Seniors, unfortunately, are often more susceptible to emotional manipulation and other fraudulent schemes, making them prime targets for these increasingly sophisticated scams, many of which have been bolstered by the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence). Drawing upon invaluable insights from the Better Business Bureau and Tony, we will provide an in-depth analysis of common scams that prey on unsuspecting individuals, especially seniors. By uncovering the latest strategies employed by scammers, we aim to equip attendees with knowledge and practical tips to safeguard themselves and their loved ones against these malicious activities. Topics to be covered include recognizing red flags of fraudulent schemes, understanding the psychological tactics employed by scammers, identifying common internet scams, exploring real-life case studies, and examining the role of AI in facilitating fraudulent practices. By raising awareness and sharing informed perspectives, this webinar seeks to empower individuals to protect themselves and actively combat the ever-evolving landscape of scams and online fraud.
