Restorative Justice Pilot Project
In 2022, the Beverly Brown - Wîyasôw Iskweêw - Restorative Justice Committee launched a pilot project for a court-annexed restorative justice process. Collaborating with restorative justice agencies across the province, this pilot project allows for restorative justice to be used as a form of pre-plea diversion from the traditional justice system, or as an enhancement to the traditional sentencing process. In this session, a panel of speakers will discuss this pilot project from the perspectives of the Crown, the courts, and the defence. The panel will be comprised of Justice M.C. Christopher (Alberta Court of Justice ), Matthew Hinshaw (Deputy Chief Prosecutor, Alberta Crown Prosecution Service), and Graham Rapson (Beresh Law).

The Honourable Justice M.C. Christopher (Alberta Court of Justice)
