Trauma-Informed Lawyering - How to Ask Questions to Obtain Information to Assist Clients With Their Testimony

Vulnerable Populations Vulnerable Population Services (VPS) offers specialized service attention to newcomers in difficult scenarios using a Case Management & Wrap Around approach.  Each person is assessed in a comprehensive way & services are provided in all areas of one’s life where attention is required & requested.  The Centre for Newcomers offers assistance at their hearings. Preparing for Refugee Immigration Hearings from a Settlement Organization Perspective – Possible Ways to Support Submissions and their Limits.

The presentation will discuss ways the Centre for Newcomers may assist refugees while they go through the refugee claim process. Kelly Ernst and LuElla Gauthier will review their services, some of their findings after assisting people, and limits to what they can and cannot do to support claimants.
