Introduction to the Work of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise
Please join us for an introduction to the work of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE). The CORE is a business and human rights Ombud institution with a mandate to promote respect for human rights and responsible business conduct with Canadian companies operating overseas in the garment, mining, and oil/gas sectors. The CORE also has a complaints mechanism through which impacted individuals and communities can submit complaints about possible human rights abuses, and the CORE will bring the complainant together with the Canadian company in order to seek remedy for the harm caused.
