OBA Environmental Law PROGRAM | 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM (EDT)

This program is also part of the 2020-2021 Environmental Law Passport Series - The Dirt on Brownfield Redevelopments

In December 2019, Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) filed the long-awaited On-Site and Excess Soil Management Regulation (Excess Soil Regulation) and complementary amendments to Ontario’s Waste Management and Brownfield regulations.  These regulations and amendments come into force in phases, with the next phase beginning January 1, 2021.  As this new regime will apply to all construction projects where excess soil is generated, these changes will affect property owners, developers, consultants, municipalities, and the construction industry as a whole, and subject them to new risks and legal requirements.  Hear perspectives from the MECP, a municipality, and an environmental consultant about this new regime and what steps you need to take to ensure that you are up to date on Ontario’s new excess soil laws.  This program is Part 1 of a three part passport series.
